21
OR DRINK

One dealer, everyone else against the house. Get as close to 21 as you dare — bust and you drink the difference, beat the dealer and you stay dry, hit a blackjack and you hand it out.

WHAT YOU NEED
  • A standard deck of cards
  • A drink for every player
  • 2–7 players plus a dealer

HOW TO PLAY

  1. 1
    Pick a dealer
One player is the house. Everyone else plays their own hand against the dealer — get as close to 21 as you dare without going over.
  2. 2
    Deal
The dealer gives two cards to each player and two to themselves (one face down). Face cards are 10; an Ace is 1 or 11, your choice.
  3. 3
    Hit or stand
Going around the table, each player hits (takes another card) or stands. Take as many cards as you want — but watch the total.
  4. 4
    Bust and drink
Go over 21 and you bust: take one sip for every point you went over (bust on 24 = three sips).
  5. 5
    Settle with the house
Dealer reveals. If the dealer’s total beats yours, take one sip. Beat the dealer and you’re safe. A tie is a push — no drinks.
  6. 6
    Blackjack pays out
Land 21 on your first two cards (an Ace + a ten-card) and it’s blackjack: deal out three sips and take the deck as the new dealer next round.

HOUSE TWISTS

The Courage Hit

Choosing to hit on a total of 17 or higher is a courage play. Pull it off without busting and everyone else drinks. Bust on a courage hit and you take the biggest sip of the night.

Dealer’s Curse

If the dealer busts, the dealer drinks once for every player still standing — the house pays when it overreaches.

Double or Nothing

Before your first hit you may “double”: draw exactly one card. Win the hand and you hand out double; lose and you drink double. High risk, high reward.

FAQ

How is the blackjack drinking game different from regular blackjack?

The rules are the same — get close to 21 without busting — but instead of chips, the stakes are sips. Busting, losing to the dealer, and hitting blackjack each trigger a drinking outcome.

How many people can play?

Two to seven players plus a dealer works best. The dealer role rotates whenever someone hits a blackjack.

What happens when you bust?

You sip once for every point you went over 21 — so busting on 25 is four sips. It keeps players honest about when to stop hitting.

Do we need casino chips?

No chips or table needed — just a standard deck of cards and drinks. Print the rule card from the Casino Night Kit and you’re set.
