Everyone gets a cup, one sits in the center, and a ping-pong ball never stops moving. In Freeze Cup you bounce the ball into your cup then pass — but if the player behind you sinks theirs first, they stack their cup on yours and you drink. Here’s how it works.
What you need
- One empty cup per player + one center cup
- A ping-pong ball
- 3–10 players in a circle
- (Optional) our printable rules card and cup name tags
How to play Freeze Cup
- Set up the circle. Each player gets an empty cup in front of them. Place one “freeze” cup in the center.
- Bounce into your cup. On go, bounce the ball off the table into your own cup.
- Pass it along. The instant you make it, pass the ball to the next player and keep going around.
- Race the player behind you. If the person behind you sinks theirs before you sink yours, they stack their cup on top of yours.
- Stacked = drink. Get stacked and you take a drink, un-stack, and jump back in. Last unstacked player wins the round.
Variations
- Freeze cup bonus: Sink the center cup and everyone must freeze — the last player to stop moving drinks.
- Elimination: Get stacked twice in a round and you’re out until the next round.
- Speed round: Use two balls at once for double the panic.
Pro tips
- A consistent short bounce beats a hard throw — accuracy wins.
- Name-tag every cup so stacked cups don’t cause arguments.
- Keep the circle tight so passes are quick.
