One story, one sentence per person, and one rule: do not laugh. In Laugh Line the group builds an increasingly ridiculous tale together — crack a smile and you drink. Here’s how to play the ultimate straight-face challenge.
What you need
- 3–10 players in a circle
- Drinks for the laughers
- Our printable story-starter and plot-twist decks
- A stone-cold poker face
How to play Laugh Line
- Draw a starter. Flip a story-starter card and read the opening line aloud.
- One sentence each. Going around the circle, every player adds exactly one sentence to the story.
- Go weirder. The goal is to make the story as absurd as possible without breaking.
- Twist it. On your turn you can play a plot-twist card to hijack the story completely.
- No laughing. No smiling, no laughing — crack a grin and you drink. Last straight face wins.
Variations
- Sudden death: Once three people have laughed, the next to break loses the whole round.
- Theme night: Draw a genre (horror, rom-com, sci-fi) and stay in it the whole story.
- Two words only: Each player adds just two words — much harder to keep coherent, much funnier.
Pro tips
- Look at the table, not at the person talking, to keep a straight face.
- Save your plot-twist cards for the moment the story gets too serious.
- Read starters in the most deadpan voice you can manage.
