The oldest party game gets a BarGames101 upgrade. Spin an empty bottle, and whoever it lands on draws a truth, dare, or challenge card — with the classic kiss rule optional and always consensual. Here’s how to play the grown-up version.
What you need
- One empty bottle
- 3–12 players in a circle
- Our printable Truth / Dare / Challenge deck
- Drinks for the pass option
How to play Spin the Bottle
- Circle up. Sit in a circle around an empty bottle on a flat surface. Take turns spinning.
- Spin the bottle. Whoever the neck points to when it stops is the player who’s up.
- Pick a deck. The spinner calls Truth, Dare, or Challenge and the chosen player draws that card.
- Complete it or pass. Do the card — or take 2 drinks to pass. Then the next person spins.
- Set your house version. Agree up front whether the classic kiss rule is in play. Only ever with everyone’s consent.
Variations
- Classic kiss rule: The traditional version — optional, consensual, and agreed by the whole group first.
- Dares only: Skip truths for a high-energy, all-dare game.
- Spinner’s choice: The spinner completes the card if the bottle lands back on themselves.
Pro tips
- Use a bottle with a narrow neck for a clear pointer.
- Agree on boundaries and the kiss rule before the first spin.
- Keep the three decks in separate piles for fast draws.
